Phoenix
Phoenix
In Phoenicia, the Sacred King embodied the god Phoenix, who was cremated and then reborn. The king's soul, released by the fire, assumed bird form above his pyre. The symbol of the Phoenix has endured through many mythologies and is found in Renaissance art, Alchemy, Muslim traditions, and even in China.
"From the ashes, I rise" is the soul call of the Phoenix, who, in legend, knows when the time has come to die. He sets afire his nest, symbolizing all that he has called home, all that he has created, all that has defined what he is. . . and then enters the fire. The glorious Phoenix arises from the ashes anew, reborn, to fly into a new beginning.
