The symbol
The meaning behind the symbol
Chiron is a small celestial body discovered in 1977, classified as a centaur—an object that orbits between Saturn and Uranus. Named after the wise centaur from Greek mythology, Chiron has an elliptical orbit that takes approximately 50 years to complete, spending varying amounts of time in each zodiac sign. In Greek mythology, Chiron was the wisest and most noble of the centaurs, unlike his wild and unruly brothers. He served as a mentor to heroes like Achilles, Jason, and Asclepius (the god of healing). Ironically, despite his vast knowledge of healing arts, Chiron suffered from an incurable wound inflicted by one of Heracles’ poisoned arrows. This eternal wound made him the “wounded healer”—one who could heal others but never himself.
